Costa Coffee – Hello Summer Moments*

Last week the lovely people at Costa sent me an amazing wicker hamper full of summery goodies. I have to confess and apologise as I’ve been a bit of a naughty blogger and missed the deadline as life got in the way a bit. I have however been having a lovely time completing their challenge and so here’s how I got on! (Click the links to see extra yummy/daft photos & videos!)

Day One:
I drove home to my parents the other week when it was delivered and Coco was absolutely fascinated… she quickly discovered how to get the lid off the basket when she realised their were some delicious looking cakes hidden away in it. In addition to the cakes, hidden away in the basket was a lovely make up bag, a frisbee, three lush nail varnishes and more! We quickly whisked the cakes out of Coco’s sight and I took her out to play with the frisbee before dinner.

After dinner, I got one of Grandma’s vintage cake platters out and we all picked out a cake to eat. There was lots of mmmm’s and ahhh’s from the room so it was definitely a good reception. I personally tried the Raspberry Ripple Fancy and it didn’t last two minutes!

Day 2:
It was lovely and sunny on the Saturday after the hamper arrived so I treated myself to an afternoon in the garden and gave myself a summery mani/pedi with my nail polishes. I’m saving the pictures from this though for another post so you’ll have to be patient.

Day 3:
After a long trek around the metro centre for the Mr’s work related purchases we were in desperate need of refreshment and headed straight to Costa. I couldn’t decide because the whole menu looks pretty yummy but I spotted a girl in front getting a strawberry & lime mint cooler and it had me at pinkI really enjoyed it. He tried the caramel cream cooler which was pretty much like a dessert.

Day 4:
Sadly I don’t have any photos from the final day of my challenge as I completely ran out of space on my iphone and didn’t have my camera with me. -10 points for being a bad blogger again. My brother is an absolute nightmare to eat with as he can no longer eat gluten and various other things… so he was over the moon to discover Costa were doing a new Gluten Free Chicken & Basil Salad Wrap. I meanwhile opted for the Cherry Tart while we caught up over coffee.

I had so much fun with this challenge, it was an excuse to spend some quality time catching up with the people I love and miss now I’m an hour away from them. But it also gave me the chance to take an hour out for myself and I’ll be posting my summer moments mani/pedi very soon. If you’re taking a trip to Costa make sure to tweet them and tell them your favourite item @costacoffee and take a Summer selfie using the #HelloSummerMoments! Thank you so much to Costa for letting me take part.

Events in the North East : Hardwick Live

Last year there were so many amazing new events in the North East that sadly due to work commitments I never got the chance to write about. Thankfully a few of them are coming back this year so I thought rather than writing about my experience the second time round, I’d share it now so you can go check them out yourselves! The only slight issue I’m going to have is that quite a lot of my photographs are currently trapped on my old laptop so you’re going to have to imagine for now!

Hardwick Live Festival

Hardwick Live took place for the first time ever last year and I got to attend through complimentary tickets via working at Sunderland Live. I was over the moon to hear it was returning this September! Now this isn’t your normal festival experience… last year my Mom and I had a full on traditional afternoon tea while listening to Alison Moyet grace the main stage. For those who had a bigger appetite beautiful tents turned into restaurants and served up British favourites such as Shepherds Pie and all of course while in the grounds of Hardwick country estate. Champagne was flowing for those who weren’t driving (I always pull the short straw) along with hot air balloon rides and tucked away in the trees was another mini stage with dance music.

It was an absolutely lovely way to spend a day with my Mom. My brother and his friends had got themselves tickets too so also headed along for the day and joined us for our afternoon tea. Looking at the photo of Hardwick Hall, you probably wouldn’t ever imagine this could turn into a festival site but it did and it worked really well! This year’s event sees Adam Ant and The Jacksons (YES Michael’s brothers) take to the stage, plus many others. It’s not your average line up but it’s not your average festival either. I throughly recommend a visit and make sure you get yourself an afternoon tea too!

Ticket prices vary depending on days/weekend etc so click here to book yours or here to find out more.
